Fidget quilts decrease anxiety by providing a distraction—adults with dementia and children on the autism spectrum often response to stress with fidgeting, anger and aggression. Being able to divert their attention from the initial stressor to a new object, one can often stop or prevent undesired behaviors.

Fidget Quilts provide comfort – Soothing fabrics, such as satin, fleece, and/or soft animals are comforting when one is anxious or stressed.

Fidget Quilts help to delay cognitive decline —- Studies have shown that even fidgeting with something as simple as a button, zipper etc. stimulates the brain, and that in turn helps to maintain dexterity and hand -eye coordination.

Fidget Quilts provide an avenue for meaningful conversation, Quilts that include items from a person’s past or present can trigger memories or associations that can be shared with a caregiver. Even a brief period of meaningful conversation is valuable.
